Workshop Hazards

Heavy items in storage must be tied back.

Use Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) with power tools. If PPE is not available or is unsuitable then contact management immediately. The following PPE is provided:

• Protective glasses.

• Earmuffs.

• Chemical gloves.

• Dust masks.

• Chaps.

• Helmet with visor.

• Welding gloves and helmet.

Don't use equipment in the workshop without specific instruction as some equipment is specialised engineering equipment that requires training.

The following hazards are present in the workshop. They are all high risk as they can cause severe injury and are only to be used if authorised or supervised by farm managers. To minimise the risk you must use the PPE provided. Keep guards in place and only use as directed by the relevant user manual. These mitigations apply to the following hazardous items:

• Angle grinder - use with guard.

• Bench grinder.

• Drills.

• Circular Saw.

• Air Compressor.

• Drill Press.

• Chemicals - see general hazards.

• Water Blaster.

• Welders - including gas cylinders for Oxyacetylene and MIG.

• Hand tools.

• Chainsaws - only to be used by trained staff when specifically authorised. Never use a chainsaw alone.

• Fencing equipment - including fence strainers.

• Line trimmer.

• Generators. Use only in dry conditions and with residual current devices.

• Lifting equipment - check chain conditions and lifting capacity prior to use.
